Signal Processing: Theory and Implementation - Signalbehandling

Signal processing is an electrical engineering subfield that focuses on analysing, modifying, and synthesizing signals such as sound, images, and scientific measurements. Signal processing techniques can be used to improve transmission, storage efficiency and subjective quality and to also emphasize or detect components of interest in a measured signal. Signal processing consists of mapping or transforming information bearing signals into another form of signals at the output, aiming at some application benefits. This mapping defines a continuous or analog system if it involves functions representing the input and output signals. Theory and Practice.

Digital signal processing theory and technique, as a very important area in science and engineering, has developed very rapidly in the last thirty years [1]–[15]. This development has benefited from progress in both computer technology and the micro-industry. Part I deals with problems and methods of general signal process theory. The problem areas included imaging and analysis of recognition, x-ray crystallography, radar and sonar, signal analysis and 1-D signal processing, speech, vision, and VLSI implementation. The methods discussed included harmonic analysis and wavelets, operator theory, algorithm complexity, filtering and estimation, and pling theory, we consider sampling and interpolation of finite-dimesnional vectors, and propose a sampling theory for ban-dlimited finite-dimensional vectors.

The authors lead the reader through the fundamental mathematical principles underlying the operation of key signal processing techniques, providing simple Digital Signal Processing The theory of signal processing answers the questions posed above. In particular, it describes how to sample and reconstruct images in the best possible ways and how to avoid artifacts dues to sampling. Chapter 4 focuses on FIR filters and its purpose is to introduce two basic signal processing methods: block-by-block processing and sample-by-sample processing. In the block processing part, we discuss various approaches to convolution, transient and steady-state behavior of filters, and real-time processing on a block-by-block basis using Digital signal processing is the use of digital processing, such as by computers or more specialized digital signal processors, to perform a wide variety of signal processing operations. The digital signals processed in this manner are a sequence of numbers that represent samples of a continuous variable in a domain such as time, space, or frequency.
